Crunch Fitness to open new gym near Mechanicsville Turnpike in 2027
Crunch Fitness plans a 30,000-square-foot gym with new amenities in Glen Lea Centre near Mechanicsville.
Crunch Fitness is expanding its presence in the Richmond area with a new gym planned at 3808 Mechanicsville Turnpike in the Glen Lea Centre shopping center, Richmond BizSense reported.
The new 30,000-square-foot facility will be the first local Crunch Fitness to feature the Crunch 3.0 design, which combines modern aesthetics with enhanced functionality. It will include amenities such as a hot yoga studio, dry cold plunge, saunas, and massage chairs, according to John Freeland of JF Fitness of North America, the local franchisee.
Freeland noted that the gym aims to offer luxury amenities at a reasonable price, responding to growing health consciousness and competition among gyms. The gym is expected to cost about $3 million to build and equip.
The new gym is set to open in the second quarter of 2027. Financing for the project is provided by Pinnacle Financial Partners, which recently opened an office in Scott’s Addition. The location occupies two storefronts formerly used by Save A Lot grocery and It’s Fashion M clothing stores.
