Disney has reduced its workforce by between 100 and 200 employees in its theme park division, according to a source familiar with the situation reported by Skift.

The job cuts were primarily concentrated in the Imagineering team, which is responsible for designing and developing attractions, theme park lands, and other experiences within Disney's offerings.

These layoffs followed shifts in project timelines, indicating changes in the development schedule of new attractions and experiences.

Despite these reductions, Disney's experiences segment generated over half of the company's total operating income in fiscal 2025, although there was a noted decline in third-quarter international park income due to softer consumer demand in Shanghai and Hong Kong.

The layoffs come after earlier staff reductions in human resources and technology departments under CEO Josh D'Amaro, who has emphasized cost reduction strategies.

D'Amaro has indicated that Disney is considering various options to reduce labor costs as part of its broader financial management efforts.
