Students at Sanderson High School in Wake County are participating in a friendly competition to support the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina, WTVD reported. The initiative is part of the Students Against Hunger campaign, which the school's student council is leading again this year.

Last year, the students raised about $46,000 for the cause, and this year they hope to reach at least $50,000. They are organizing various activities, including basketball games and classroom contests, to engage the school community and raise both funds and awareness about food insecurity.

Students are collecting canned goods during first period and hosting schoolwide events where admission fees contribute to the food drive. Volunteering at the food bank has helped students see the tangible impact of their efforts, according to WTVD.

The student council plays a key role in motivating classmates to stay optimistic and engaged throughout the campaign. Their efforts aim to ensure families in the local community have food on the table during difficult times.
