Two CHP officers injured in car explosion on 215 Freeway in Riverside

Two California Highway Patrol officers are recovering after a vehicle exploded on the 215 Freeway in Riverside County.

Two California Highway Patrol officers were injured when a disabled vehicle exploded on the side of the 215 Freeway in Riverside County, CBS News Los Angeles reported.

The incident occurred around 3:15 p.m. Sunday involving a 2007 Toyota Camry that was blocking lanes and being pushed off the freeway, according to KTLA 5.

Video captured by Homie News and shared with KTLA showed the moment the officers were engulfed in flames while responding to the call.

The officers are currently recovering from their injuries sustained in the explosion, CBS News Los Angeles stated.
