Dundalk’s Wise Avenue Volunteer Fire Company cancels annual Christmas train garden
The popular holiday train garden in Dundalk is canceled this year due to a shortage of volunteers at the Wise Avenue Volunteer Fire Company.
The Wise Avenue Volunteer Fire Company in Dundalk has canceled its annual Christmas train garden for this year, FOX45 Baltimore reported.
For 45 years, volunteers have dedicated tens of thousands of hours each fall to building and operating the intricate holiday attraction, which includes recurring displays and a local Key Bridge replica, according to The Baltimore Sun.
Bob Frances, a firefighter and spokesperson for the Wise Avenue station, explained that the core group of volunteers responsible for the train garden is shrinking and aging.
Frances said the fire company no longer has enough people with the time and ability to organize and run the event, leading to the cancellation.
The cancellation marks a pause in a long-standing community tradition that has been part of Dundalk’s holiday celebrations for decades.
