A teacher at Wadsworth Elementary School in Flagler County was arrested on suspicion of abusing a 6-year-old special needs student, according to WKMG News 6 ClickOrlando. The teacher reportedly pushed the student during a dispute, grabbed the child’s arm roughly, and pinned him against a wall after the student crawled under a desk to avoid confrontation.

A paraprofessional witnessed the incident and reported it to school administrators, who then escorted the teacher off campus and notified the child’s parents and the Florida Department of Children and Families, WKMG reported. The student also described a prior incident where the teacher allegedly hit him in the stomach and placed him at the back of a line for cutting ahead.

The teacher, identified as Kevin Adkisson, faces two charges of child abuse without great bodily harm and has been placed on administrative leave by the Flagler County school district, WKMG stated. He has since bonded out of jail.

This is the second child abuse accusation involving a Flagler County school employee this month. Last week, a substitute teacher at Matanzas High School was arrested for allegedly kicking a student with disabilities, WKMG noted.

FOX 35 Orlando also reported on the arrest, confirming it is the second such incident involving a Flagler County school employee this week.
