Flood watch in effect for Miami-Dade and nearby areas until 7 PM
National Weather Service warns of possible flooding from heavy rain in Miami-Dade and surrounding counties until this evening.
The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for Miami-Dade County and surrounding areas including Broward, Collier, Hendry, Glades, and Monroe counties until 7 PM this evening, according to the NWS Miami office.
The watch warns that flooding caused by excessive rainfall remains possible, especially in poor drainage and urban areas. The NWS notes that pockets of very heavy rainfall have already caused localized flash flooding recently.
Forecasts predict rainfall amounts similar to previous days, with common totals of 1 to 2 inches where showers and storms occur. Some scattered locations in South Florida may receive 2 to 4 inches of rain this evening.
Residents are advised to stay aware of changing weather conditions and to take precautions to avoid flood-prone areas. The NWS recommends visiting their safety page for guidance on how to stay safe during flooding events.
