Godzilla Minus Zero premieres to sold-out crowds at Tokyo Film Festival
Takashi Yamazaki's sequel to Godzilla Minus One received enthusiastic applause at two packed screenings ahead of its November release.
Godzilla Minus Zero, directed by Takashi Yamazaki, was featured as the centerpiece film at the Tokyo International Film Festival, drawing sold-out crowds for two screenings, Hollywood Reporter reported.
The film's screenings attracted many dedicated kaiju fans who attended in costume and brought Godzilla figurines, creating an energetic atmosphere at the event in Tokyo's Ginza district.
Audience reaction was notably enthusiastic, with rapturous applause and excited discussions about the monster scenes following the second screening at Hulic Hall Tokyo.
Godzilla Minus Zero is a direct sequel to the 2023 film Godzilla Minus One, which Yamazaki wrote, directed, and supervised visual effects for. The previous film was a critical and commercial success, becoming the highest-grossing live-action Japanese film in North America and winning an Oscar for best visual effects.
The new film is set for commercial release in Japan on November 3, continuing the legacy of the Godzilla franchise with strong festival reception ahead of its debut.
