SNL honors Milwaukee Brewers’ World Series win with Bobby Moynihan’s Drunk Uncle
Saturday Night Live celebrated the Milwaukee Brewers’ first World Series title with a Weekend Update segment featuring Bobby Moynihan’s Drunk Uncle.
Saturday Night Live paid tribute to the Milwaukee Brewers' historic World Series victory during a Weekend Update segment, Variety reported. The show featured the return of Bobby Moynihan's Drunk Uncle character, known for his blunt and humorous takes on current events.
Bobby Moynihan, who was an SNL cast member from 2009 to 2017, revived his Drunk Uncle persona to celebrate the Brewers' first World Series win in nearly 60 years. The character attributed the win to the power of beer, a nod to Milwaukee's association with brewing and the team's name, Variety explained.
During the segment, Drunk Uncle expressed happiness for the Brewers but also voiced concern about changes in baseball, noting that games have become shorter due to recent rule changes. He humorously remarked that games now end quickly, leading fans to watch other sports instead.
Variety noted that Moynihan’s Drunk Uncle character delivered one-liners including a comment about Elizabeth Holmes, maintaining the character’s classic Archie Bunker-esque persona.
