Jeffrey Harrington appointed permanent Pasco County sheriff
Gov. Ron DeSantis appointed Jeffrey Harrington to serve as Pasco County's permanent sheriff, filling the remainder of the term.
Gov. Ron DeSantis has appointed Jeffrey Harrington as the permanent sheriff of Pasco County, according to WFLA and the Tampa Bay Times. Harrington had been serving as interim sheriff after a judge issued an order naming him to the position hours before the previous sheriff's resignation took effect.
Harrington has over 30 years of experience in law enforcement, including 14 years with the Pasco Sheriff's Office. He most recently served as Chief of Staff to outgoing Sheriff Chris Nocco, who resigned before the end of his term.
The appointment means Harrington will complete the remaining two years of Nocco's term as sheriff. Harrington is scheduled to speak publicly about the appointment at a news conference on Thursday at 1 p.m., as reported by WFLA.
This leadership change in Pasco County law enforcement follows a period of transition and will continue the work of the sheriff's office under Harrington's direction.
