Donatello celebrates 40 years serving Italian cuisine in Tampa
Tampa's Donatello restaurant marks four decades with classic Italian dishes and evolving customer tastes.
Donatello, a well-known Italian restaurant in Tampa, is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, WUSF reported. The restaurant was founded in 1984 by Guido Tiozzo, who was originally from Venice, Italy.
Currently, the restaurant is run by Guido's son, Gino Tiozzo, who balances traditional Italian recipes with the changing preferences of his customers. Gino shared reflections on the restaurant's history and some of its notable celebrity guests during a recent interview.
Gino also discussed his approach to maintaining the menu, mentioning there is one dish he will never remove, highlighting the importance of classic flavors. Additionally, he offered tips for cooking better Italian meals at home, contributing to the celebration of Italian-American Heritage Month.
Donatello's longevity and commitment to authentic Italian cuisine make it a significant part of Tampa's dining scene, continuing to attract both longtime patrons and new visitors.
