According to WFLA, deputies from the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the Citibank Center in Tampa just one minute after receiving a 911 call about an active shooter on Wednesday.

By 12:12 p.m., deputies were on the scene, and three minutes later, they entered the building to engage the suspect. The rapid response involved 367 deputies aiming to protect the 3,200 employees inside the building.

Hillsborough County Fire Rescue also arrived minutes after law enforcement and worked closely with deputies to clear sections of the large area and assess injured individuals quickly, prioritizing treatment within 30 seconds or less per patient.

Rob Herrin of HCFR, who helped develop the county’s active shooter response plan, emphasized that regular training helps first responders remain calm and effective during such incidents. A county-wide training session is expected soon to maintain preparedness.
