Gwinnett police investigate double fatal shooting in Lawrenceville

Gwinnett County police are investigating a double fatal shooting that occurred Wednesday night on Heather Stone Way in Lawrenceville, Atlanta News First and FOX 5 Atlanta reported.

Officers responded around 8:30 p.m. after reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they found two people who had been shot and died at the scene, according to Gwinnett County Police Department Public Information Officer Cpl. Angela Carter.

A third person was detained at the location and is cooperating with detectives. Police said this individual is the only suspect at this time and emphasized there is no danger to the community.

Authorities have not released the names or ages of the victims or the detained person. Investigators believe all parties involved knew each other and suspect the incident may be related to drugs, though the exact sequence of events remains unclear.

Police are continuing to interview the person in custody and have not announced any formal charges. They plan to provide updates as the investigation progresses.
