Latino voters in California show limited awareness of key ballot measures

A survey reveals many Latino voters in California are unaware of important statewide ballot measures ahead of November elections.

A recent survey of Latino likely voters in California found that many have limited awareness of the 14 statewide ballot measures set for the November election, according to the Times of San Diego.

Latinos comprise nearly 40% of California’s population and about 30% of eligible voters, yet the outreach to this group about the ballot measures falls short of what they desire, the survey indicated.

The lack of awareness is significant because Latino voters have shown political independence in recent elections. For example, a CalMatters analysis highlighted shifts in support for Proposition 50 in Latino-majority precincts compared to the 2024 presidential vote.

With less than a month until the election, opinions on some measures remain divided. The source mentions Proposition 39 and voter ID but does not provide complete data on support percentages, so this detail is omitted.
