Man arrested near White House with guns after threatening to kill Trump
A Venezuelan man was arrested near the White House with multiple firearms after telling officers voices told him to kill President Trump.
Secret Service officers arrested a Venezuelan man near the White House after finding multiple firearms in his vehicle, CBS News reported.
The man allegedly told authorities that voices in his head instructed him to come to Washington, D.C., and kill President Donald Trump, according to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and NBC News.
The suspect was found sitting in a stolen vehicle parked on Constitution Avenue near the White House complex late Thursday night, ABC News said. Officers discovered a MAC-10 machine pistol, a Glock 43x pistol, an AR-15 rifle, and dozens of rounds of ammunition in the vehicle.
The man was charged with multiple offenses including unlawful transportation of firearms, possession of dangerous weapons, carrying a pistol without a license, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, theft, and receiving stolen property, according to DHS and CBS News.
The suspect entered the U.S. through Texas in March 2024 and was previously arrested by U.S. Border Patrol but later released, DHS stated.
Secret Service Director Sean Curran highlighted the incident as an example of officers using their training to deescalate a volatile and imminent threat to the president and others, CBS News reported.
