Connecticut Sen. Chris Murphy was released from hospital following a small hemorrhagic stroke and will spend weeks in rehab.
Connecticut Democratic Sen. Chris Murphy was discharged from Johns Hopkins Hospital after suffering a small hemorrhagic stroke last weekend, CBS News reported.
Murphy will spend several weeks at a rehabilitation center as he recovers and will miss votes during this time, according to NBC News.
The stroke involved a small bleed in the thalamus region of Murphy's brain, which relays sensory information between the spinal cord and brain, CBS News explained.
Dr. Jose Suarez, chief of neurosciences critical care at Johns Hopkins, said Murphy has made tremendous progress and is expected to make a full recovery following rehabilitation, NBC News and CBS News reported.
Murphy stated he is staying engaged with his team and colleagues remotely while his staff continues legislative work and constituent services without interruption, ABC News and CBS News noted.
