A 34-year-old man was charged with first-degree burglary, first-degree domestic violence, failure to stop for blue lights, and resisting arrest after an incident in Moncks Corner, according to the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office and reported by Live 5 WCSC.

Deputies responded to a home on Canterhill View Drive after a reported burglary where the suspect allegedly kicked open the front door and threatened a woman and her family. While deputies were on scene, the suspect continued to call the victim with threats to return and open fire, according to ABC News 4 WCIV.

Deputies later spotted a gray Dodge Ram pickup truck matching the suspect’s vehicle near the home. When they attempted a traffic stop, the man fled, prompting a brief vehicle pursuit that ended on Orion Way. A high-risk traffic stop was conducted, and the suspect was taken into custody after resisting arrest.

During a search of the vehicle, deputies found a loaded 9mm handgun and ammunition. Sheriff Duane Lewis emphasized the seriousness of threats involving firearms and expressed gratitude that deputies were able to resolve the situation without further harm to the family.

The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to gather information on the case.
