Mayor Lurie wins big as San Francisco voters back transit and charter reforms
San Francisco voters approve key ballot measures and candidates favored by Mayor Daniel Lurie, strengthening his control of City Hall.
San Francisco’s Mayor Daniel Lurie secured a decisive victory on election night, with nearly all of his preferred ballot measures and candidates leading comfortably, the San Francisco Standard reported. This election night success follows a strong showing in the June primary, further consolidating Lurie’s influence over City Hall politics.
Voters approved the mayor’s charter reform measures, with Propositions E and F passing and Proposition D receiving around 60% approval, according to the Standard. Additionally, Proposition H, a parcel tax designed to fund the city’s transit agency Muni, passed with 72% of the vote, reflecting broad bipartisan support.
A related regional transit funding measure, RTM, which aims to support multiple Bay Area transit agencies, also passed, indicating strong voter backing for transit investments across the region. The mayor’s campaign spent approximately $19 million on these ballot measures, underscoring the high stakes of the election.
Meanwhile, KRON4 reported that fireworks were seen over the San Francisco Embarcadero on election night, though the reason for the display was under investigation.
With these results, Mayor Lurie emphasized that San Franciscans have provided the city with the tools needed to govern effectively and deliver results.
