Metrolink announced it will suspend Orange County Line service between Laguna Niguel/Mission Viejo and Oceanside from Monday, Oct. 26 through Friday, Oct. 30 due to forecasted high tides along the South Orange County coastline, according to dailybreeze.com and presstelegram.com.

The suspension affects the coastal stretch where ocean waves frequently impact the rail tracks near San Clemente, an area that has experienced damage from both tides and landslides in recent years, disrupting service for extended periods.

Metrolink will not provide alternate bus transportation during this period but aims to maintain a more predictable schedule by originating and terminating trains at Laguna Niguel/Mission Viejo, which also helps reduce rail traffic and potential delays for Amtrak Pacific Surfliner and freight trains operating along the corridor.

Officials said Metrolink will continue coordinating with rail partners, conduct frequent inspections, and stage crews and equipment nearby to quickly address any impacts to the track infrastructure during the suspension period.

Amtrak Pacific Surfliner trains are expected to operate normally as long as conditions remain safe, according to the announcements.

Weekend service is not expected to be affected by this temporary suspension, based on the information provided by Metrolink.
