More than half of women in states with abortion bans unsure where to get abortion
A KFF survey finds 53% of women in states with abortion bans wouldn't know where to get one, up from 43% in 2024.
A recent survey by KFF found that 53% of reproductive-age women living in states with abortion-provision bans said they would not know where to go or find information if they needed an abortion. This represents an increase from 43% reported in 2024, according to KFF.
The survey also showed that 40% of women in states with gestational limits between 6 and 12 weeks reported the same lack of knowledge. Nationally, 32% of reproductive-age women said they would not know where to get an abortion, up from 26% in 2024, KFF reported.
The findings come amid the growing availability of medication abortion via telehealth, which has changed how many women access abortion services, including those in states with bans. While 68% of reproductive-age women have heard of medication abortion pills, only 18% know that people can obtain them through telehealth, KFF noted.
