NBC News reported that a Florida man, Dale Smith Jr., was arrested on October 14 and charged with second-degree murder in the death of his ex-fiancée, Michelle Parker, whose body has never been found.

Smith and Parker appeared on 'The People's Court' in 2011 to settle a dispute over a $5,000 engagement ring Parker allegedly threw off a balcony. The judge ruled both were responsible and ordered them to split the damage cost, according to court documents unsealed Tuesday, as reported by NBC News.

After the taping, Parker dropped off their twins at Smith's home and left shortly after, according to Smith's statement to investigators. However, surveillance footage showed Parker's vehicle remained at Smith's residence for at least an hour, contradicting his account.

CBS News noted that new evidence, including cellphone data and text messages, has emerged in the case, prompting renewed attention to the 2011 disappearance and murder charge against Smith.
