San José Spotlight reported that community leaders in Los Gatos are hopeful new state laws will help address unsafe electric bicycle riding in Silicon Valley.

Governor Gavin Newsom signed four bills focused on cracking down on the sale of “e-motos,” which are electric bikes capable of exceeding legal speed limits for e-bikes.

The laws also require riders to wear more safety gear to improve protection while riding.

These measures are intended to remove illegal e-bikes from streets and promote safer riding practices in the region.
