Pepper spray used during fight at East Mecklenburg High School

A fight involving several students occurred near the cafeteria at East Mecklenburg High School this week, according to WBTV.

During the altercation, officials reported that mace, a form of pepper spray, was used to help control the situation.

As a precaution, the school was placed on Hold to clear hallways, de-escalate the incident, and ventilate the affected area, but classes continued as normal during this time.

School administration and security intervened to manage the fight, and parents were informed about the incident by the school's Assistant Communications Officer, who emphasized student safety as a priority.

It remains unclear if any arrests, charges, or disciplinary actions will result from the incident, according to district officials.
