Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel sells for $600 million amid luxury hotel market growth
The Dana Point oceanfront resort was sold to a Denver private equity firm after a recent $50 million renovation.
The Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel, a premier seaside resort in Dana Point, has been sold for an estimated $600 million, according to the Los Angeles Times. The sale reflects continued strength in California's luxury hotel market.
Opened in 1984, the 373-room oceanfront resort was one of Orange County's first large-scale oceanfront hotels. It underwent a $50 million renovation last year, updating guest rooms, suites, and the spa.
The new owner is Denver-based private equity firm KSL Capital Partners, which specializes in high-end leisure destinations. Their portfolio includes properties like a castle resort in Scotland and resorts in Pennsylvania and South Carolina.
Hotel industry analyst Alan Reay valued the sale based on recent appraisals and comparable resort sales. He noted that luxury properties in unique locations continue to command premium prices as affluent travelers remain active.
The resort's location near Laguna Beach, San Juan Capistrano, and Disneyland, along with its ballroom and meeting facilities, allows it to attract conventions, corporate retreats, weddings, and tourism, making it a diverse asset for Orange County.
KSL's affiliated management company, Peregrine Hospitality, will oversee operations moving forward, according to the report.
