Sacramento man arrested for murder after wife's remains found burned
A Sacramento man was charged with murder after burned remains found in El Dorado County were identified as his wife.
The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office reported that Jasmine Gill, 30, was last seen at her Sacramento home on September 30, 2026, before her cousin reported her missing on October 4. Her husband, Gurinder Gill, initially claimed that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents had taken her into custody while she was checking the mail at their home, but ICE confirmed no enforcement activity occurred there.
Detectives found inconsistencies in Gurinder Gill's statements and learned the couple was involved in a divorce and child custody dispute. On October 1, burned human remains were discovered in El Dorado County and later identified as Jasmine Gill's.
Following the discovery, homicide detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Gurinder Gill. He was arrested on October 14 and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail, where he is held without bail. Search warrants were also executed at two residences linked to him.
