Sacramento officials share tips to keep pets safe this Halloween

With Halloween approaching, Sacramento County's Bradshaw Animal Shelter is advising local pet owners on how to keep their animals safe and comfortable during the festivities, FOX40 reported.

Officials emphasize keeping candy out of pets' reach, noting that chocolate, particularly dark and baking varieties, can be harmful to dogs and cats.

The shelter's guidance aims to prevent accidental ingestion of dangerous treats and reduce stress for pets amid Halloween activities.

Residents are encouraged to take these precautions to ensure a safe and enjoyable holiday for both their families and their pets.
