Secretary of State Marco Rubio planned to host foreign minister counterparts from the Group of 20 nations at a college football game on Saturday, WKMG News 6 ClickOrlando reported. The game, featuring Southeastern Conference rivals Florida and Georgia, was moved from Jacksonville to Atlanta due to stadium renovations.

Rubio chaired a meeting of top diplomats from the Group of 20 nations before inviting about 15 foreign ministers to attend the game, according to a State Department official cited by WKMG News 6 ClickOrlando. Some diplomats had to leave immediately after the meetings for other engagements.

The matchup is known as the “World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party” because of its large and lively crowds. Georgia, ranked No. 3 nationally, was favored over Florida, which is ranked No. 17.

The event combined diplomacy and American culture, with Rubio hosting the football game as a venue to engage with international counterparts after formal meetings.
