Orlando stays mostly dry for Halloween before heavy rain Sunday

Trick-or-treating in Orlando should be mostly dry with muggy temps; heavy rain and storms expected Sunday into Monday.

Orlando is experiencing muggy and warm weather on Halloween with afternoon highs reaching the mid-80s, according to FOX 35 Orlando. Coastal areas are slightly cooler due to an easterly ocean breeze, with temperatures around 80 to 82 degrees. Dew points remain high, making it feel humid for those out in costume this evening.

A gusty onshore breeze continues from the Atlantic, with winds blowing between 10 and 15 mph and gusts up to 25 mph along the coast. This wind pattern is keeping some showers near the area, but drier mid-level air is expected to keep the evening mostly dry for trick-or-treaters, FOX 35 Orlando reported.

Rain chances today are around 30%, with a few fast-moving Atlantic showers possible. However, a significant weather system will move in Sunday, bringing a surge of tropical moisture and an upper-level disturbance. This will increase rain chances to 80%, with widespread showers and embedded thunderstorms expected across Central Florida from Sunday into Monday.

These storms could produce heavy downpours leading to localized street flooding, especially in low-lying and saturated areas. Temperatures will also cool, with highs dropping into the upper 70s to around 80 degrees once the rain arrives.

Overnight lows tonight will remain warm, in the upper 60s to near 70 degrees across the Orlando metro area, with coastal locations staying in the low to mid-70s. Residents should prepare for a wetter and cooler Sunday and Monday following the mostly dry Halloween evening.
