TikTok announced the addition of an in-app restaurant guide called "Must Eat," which compiles recommendations based on over 40 million posts and comments, according to TechCrunch. This feature allows users to browse restaurants by city and filter by cuisine, price, and rating.

The platform has also been developing a feature to enable users to send money through direct messages, further expanding its functionality beyond video sharing.

TikTok has steadily added features such as TikTok Shop, local discovery maps, enhanced search, and games, aiming to become a single app for various digital activities, TechCrunch reported.

This approach mirrors the super app model popular in China, exemplified by WeChat, which combines social media, messaging, payments, and more into one platform. TikTok's recent transition to primarily U.S. ownership has not slowed its expansion efforts.

By integrating discovery and payment tools, TikTok seeks to reduce the need for users to switch between multiple apps, positioning itself as a comprehensive digital destination.
