UC San Diego men's basketball aims to improve after 23-11 season
Under second-year coach Clint Allard, UC San Diego looks to build on last season's 23-11 record with new players including transfer Trey Eaglestaff.
UC San Diego's men's basketball team finished the 2025-26 season with a 23-11 overall record and 12-8 in the Big West Conference, according to the Times of San Diego. The team experienced streaks of wins but also periods of inconsistency, including a three-game losing streak midseason.
The Tritons' season ended with a loss to Cal State Fullerton in the Big West Conference tournament quarterfinals. This marked a decline from the previous year's 30-5 record and NCAA Tournament appearance under former coach Eric Olen.
Clint Allard, promoted to head coach in March 2025 after serving 11 years as associate head coach, led the team through his first season. Allard is a UC San Diego basketball alum and former team captain.
Looking ahead, the team added seven freshmen and transfers, including 6-foot-6 guard Trey Eaglestaff from West Virginia, as reported by the Times of San Diego. Coach Allard aims to leverage his experience to bring more consistency to the upcoming season.
