Urban Outfitters expands tech suite to improve supply chain cost visibility
Urban Outfitters adds new features to its production lifecycle platform to enhance cost tracking and decision making in product development.
Urban Outfitters Inc., the parent company of brands like Anthropologie and Free People, is enhancing its supply chain technology by expanding its partnership with Bamboo Rose, according to Supply Chain Dive.
The company has integrated Create and Decision Intelligence features into its existing TotalPLM platform, which helps design and merchandising teams plan and track product data while estimating material costs.
Create is a digital collaboration tool that supports product planning and cost estimation, while Decision Intelligence uses artificial intelligence to improve planning, sourcing, and global trade management across the platform.
This expansion aims to provide Urban Outfitters with better cost visibility during product conception, reducing supplier changes, redesigns, and product drops, as stated in the press release.
Dan Stockbridge, director of production and sourcing systems at Urban Outfitters, noted that consolidating workflows on one platform enables real-time information sharing and faster, more focused design work.
Other apparel retailers such as American Eagle and Bealls Inc. also use Bamboo Rose’s TotalPLM platform, with cycling apparel company MAAP recently joining the user base.
