The Andromeda Galaxy, also known as M31, will be visible in the night sky this November for viewers in Elizabeth City, according to the Island Free Press. This large galaxy is about 2.5 million light-years away and can be seen as a faint smudged area near the constellations Cassiopeia and Andromeda on clear nights.
Saturn will also be visible just above the east-southeast horizon after sundown, with Neptune appearing slightly above and south of Saturn. Observers might see Neptune without binoculars if the night is clear and dark.
The Northern Taurids meteor shower is expected to peak on November 6 and should be visible from about 7:30 p.m. until 5:30 a.m. This meteor shower can sometimes produce notable fireballs, offering a special viewing opportunity for local stargazers.
Additionally, the Sculptor Galaxy will rise in the southeast around 6 p.m., but binoculars will be needed to see this galaxy, which is about 12 million light-years away.
These celestial events provide a chance for residents of Elizabeth City and surrounding areas to enjoy notable astronomical sights throughout November.
