Richmond’s own Candice Smith, known for her work with 12 On Your Side, has been chosen as the commencement speaker for Virginia Commonwealth University’s December graduation ceremony, NBC12 reported.

Smith expressed honor in joining the ranks of previous local speakers, including Emmy-nominated actor and producer Tim Reid, who spoke at her own graduation.

She aims to inspire and engage the class of 2026 during the event, continuing a tradition of notable local figures addressing VCU graduates.
