Cool fall weather with breezy conditions expected through Sunday in Elizabeth City
A crisp fall weekend with highs near 70 and breezy conditions will give way to wetter weather midweek in Elizabeth City.
A cool and crisp fall weather pattern has settled over Eastern North Carolina, including Elizabeth City, just in time for Halloween evening activities, WITN reported.
A high-pressure system from the north is maintaining a steady northeasterly breeze through Sunday, with daytime highs reaching the upper 60s to near 70 degrees inland. Elizabeth City can expect temperatures in the upper 60s to near 70 degrees under streaming high clouds.
Evening temperatures will drop into the 50s inland, with lows in the mid-to-upper 40s by early Sunday morning. Coastal zones will remain slightly warmer in the 50s, so a light jacket is recommended for outdoor plans such as trick-or-treating.
Beachgoers and boaters should remain cautious as Small Craft Advisories and beach hazard statements continue due to elevated seas between 5 and 8 feet and gusty northeast winds. Conditions are expected to improve heading into Monday.
Looking ahead, winds will shift to easterly on Monday and Tuesday, bringing a gradual return of moisture and isolated coastal showers. A more significant weather system is expected Wednesday into Thursday, with warmer southerly breezes, higher humidity, and scattered showers and thunderstorms anticipated later in the week, according to WITN.
