Daylight Saving Time ends Nov. 1, clocks fall back one hour in Raleigh
Clocks will fall back one hour at 2 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, leading to earlier sunsets around 5:15 p.m.
WRAL reported that Daylight Saving Time ends at 2 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 1, when clocks are set back one hour. This change means residents in Raleigh and surrounding areas will gain an extra hour of sleep that night.
Most smartphones and electronic devices will automatically adjust the time, but analog clocks and other manual devices need to be set back one hour before going to bed on Saturday, Oct. 31, according to WRAL.
With the time change, sunsets will occur earlier, around 5:15 p.m. instead of 6:15 p.m. By the first day of winter on Dec. 21, sunsets will be as early as 5:05 p.m. Daylight Saving Time will start again in March, when clocks spring forward one hour.
WRAL also noted that the time change is a good reminder to check smoke detector batteries at home. Some experts question the health benefits of Daylight Saving Time, citing concerns about disrupted sleep schedules and increased stress levels.
