Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Antonio Brown pleaded guilty to aggravated assault with a firearm in connection with a 2025 shooting outside a celebrity boxing match in Miami, the Tampa Bay Times reported.

According to WFLA 8, Brown was sentenced to three years of probation by a Miami state court judge. The sentence includes weekly counseling sessions and a prohibition on firearm possession during the probation period.

Brown had initially faced an attempted murder charge after police said he grabbed a handgun from a security staffer and fired two shots at a man he had been in a fistfight with earlier. Brown claimed self-defense under Florida’s Stand Your Ground law, which allows use of deadly force if a person believes they face death or serious injury without a duty to retreat.

The plea deal allows Brown to avoid prison time and a criminal conviction. His lawyer expressed gratitude for the outcome, noting Brown faced up to 30 years in prison with a 20-year minimum mandatory sentence.

Brown spent 12 years in the NFL, including winning a Super Bowl with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2021. His career effectively ended the following season after an on-field incident led to his release by the Buccaneers.
