Michael Kahn, the former majority owner of the Charlotte Checkers, pleaded guilty to filing a fraudulent federal income tax return, WFAE reported.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Kahn transferred over $4.5 million from his family foundation to himself and did not report this income on his tax returns.
Kahn owned the Charlotte Checkers from 2006 until 2024, when a controlling interest in the team was acquired by Zawyer Sports and Entertainment.
