A Georgia man was sentenced to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to charges related to a 2024 sexual assault at a Georgetown motel, according to ABC News 4 WCIV and WCBD Count on 2.

Demar Rashard Walker, 29, pleaded guilty to first-degree burglary, first-degree criminal sexual conduct, and kidnapping in connection with the incident at the Budget Inn on February 1, 2024, the 15th Circuit Solicitor’s Office reported.

Walker entered a woman’s motel room while she was sleeping, prevented her from leaving, and sexually assaulted her. The woman fought back, causing Walker to leave, and then called police. Georgetown police later arrested him.

Circuit Court Judge B. Alex Hyman sentenced Walker to 20 years on each charge, with the sentences running concurrently. He is not eligible for parole and must register as a sex offender for life upon release.

Assistant Solicitor George Henry Martin III praised the quick response and thorough investigation by the Georgetown Police Department, including Investigator Joe Wilson, stating it has made the community safer.
