Summerville man arrested on two felony child sexual exploitation charges
A 38-year-old Summerville man faces felony charges after an investigation by the SC Attorney General's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
A 38-year-old man from Summerville was arrested on two felony charges related to the sexual exploitation of a minor, South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announced, according to WCIV.
The arrest followed a CyberTipline report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, which led investigators to discover that the man distributed and possessed child sexual abuse material, WCSC reported.
The man, identified as Michael Dale Vereen II, was charged with second-degree and third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor. Each charge carries a potential prison sentence of up to 10 years, WCBD said.
The Attorney General's Office Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force conducted the investigation, with assistance from the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office, a member of the task force. The Attorney General's Office will prosecute the case, according to the reports.
