Kubiak brothers face off as Raiders visit 49ers in Sunday game
Brothers Klint and Klay Kubiak, both NFL coaches, will be on opposing sidelines Sunday in Raiders-49ers game.
The San Francisco 49ers will host the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday, marking a unique matchup between brothers Klint and Klay Kubiak, CBS News Bay Area reported. Klint Kubiak coaches the Raiders, while Klay Kubiak serves as the 49ers' offensive coordinator.
Both brothers have deep football roots, having played at Colorado State and previously working together on the 49ers staff in 2023. Klint was the pass game coordinator and Klay was the assistant quarterbacks coach during that season.
Their time together included a Super Bowl run, where the 49ers lost in overtime to the Kansas City Chiefs at Allegiant Stadium, the current home of the Raiders. The experience strengthened their bond and professional respect, according to CBS News Bay Area.
49ers quarterback Brock Purdy praised both brothers for their coaching and character, noting that Klint's sayings are still used in the team's quarterback room. Purdy expressed gratitude for having been coached by both and wished Klint well in his current role with the Raiders.
