Kristaps Porzingis, a big man for the Golden State Warriors, has decided to step away from basketball to focus on his health, CBS News Bay Area reported.

Porzingis, 31, revealed that his body did not respond as expected while preparing for the season, leading to his decision to prioritize his well-being.

He missed training camp and the start of the season due to a health-related issue, and the Warriors had listed him as out indefinitely in October.

Porzingis expressed that he is not yet ready to perform at the level he expects from himself and wants to work with the Warriors to find a suitable solution.

The Warriors acquired Porzingis from Atlanta in February in a trade involving Jonathan Kuminga and Buddy Hield. He appeared in 15 games last season before re-signing on a two-year deal worth around $40 million.
