Man arrested after threatening crew with knife on Miami Vice ’85 set
A man was arrested for menacing and weapon possession after threatening a crew member with a knife on the Miami Vice ’85 Brooklyn set.
Filming of Miami Vice ’85 in Brooklyn was interrupted when a man threatened a crew member with a butcher knife, Deadline reported.
According to Variety, the man, identified as 23-year-old Alex Perez, was arrested by the New York Police Department near the set around 11 p.m. He was charged with menacing and criminal possession of a weapon. No injuries were reported.
The Hollywood Reporter added that the incident involved a verbal dispute before Perez displayed the knife. He was taken into custody without further incident, and the weapon was recovered.
Perez reportedly has five prior arrests, including for gang-related activities and assault with a firearm, TMZ footage showed him being handcuffed and the knife removed from his sweatshirt pocket.
Miami Vice ’85 is a reimagining of the 1980s NBC crime drama, starring Michael B. Jordan and Austin Butler. Filming has also taken place in New Jersey and New York City, with first-look images released earlier this month.
The incident occurred near Washington Cemetery in Brooklyn, close to the film set, according to the NYPD and multiple outlets.
