SNL UK cold open spoofs Andy Burnham and British TV shows

SNL UK featured a cold open that humorously depicted Prime Minister Andy Burnham's recent appearance on Celebrity Gogglebox, with the character played by George Fouracres alongside Liverpool Mayor Steven Rotheram, portrayed by Emma Sidi, according to Variety.

The sketch included parodies of several well-known British television programs, such as The Celebrity Traitors, The Graham Norton Show, and The Great British Bake Off, as reported by both Variety and Deadline.

In the parody of The Celebrity Traitors, Celeste Dring played host Claudia Winkleman, highlighting the show's concept involving celebrities in a castle, while the Graham Norton Show spoof featured Jack Shep as Norton and Freddie Meredith as Prince William, poking fun at William's surprise appearance and his discussion topics.

The Great British Bake Off segment included Larry Dean as Noel Fielding and Ayoade Bamgboye as Alison Hammond, adding to the range of British TV moments satirized in the cold open.

Deadline noted that the sketch also referenced Andy Burnham's 'bean stockpile,' adding a political angle to the comedic portrayal.
