New indictment reveals prior dispute led to West Baltimore shooting that killed 12-year-old girl
Prosecutors say a shooting at Leon Day Park stemmed from an earlier conflict, not a parking spot dispute as initially reported.
The Baltimore Banner reported that a mass shooting at a youth football game in West Baltimore resulted in the death of 12-year-old Khloe Ishway. Prosecutors clarified that the violence was triggered by a dispute days earlier, not over a parking spot as police initially stated.
According to the indictment, Tyree Reynolds, the alleged shooter, and an associate had pulled a gun on a man and struck him in the face days before the shooting. On October 3, during the football games at Leon Day Park, Reynolds reportedly shot at the man and his friend after briefly addressing them.
The man, who holds a concealed-carry permit, returned fire while taking cover behind a parked pickup truck. Both men were injured, and Reynolds was shot in the ankle. An adult bystander was also injured in the incident.
Reynolds had been released from prison just eight days before the shooting, having served time for a 2021 shootout. His sentence was reduced after a senior official in the Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement vouched for him. He is currently held without bond on charges including first-degree murder.
