San Francisco Mayor Lurie’s approval rating drops to mid-60s in recent polls
Recent polls show Mayor Daniel Lurie’s job approval has declined from 74% to between 63% and 67%.
Two polls conducted in October 2026 indicate that San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie’s job approval rating has decreased to between 63% and 67%, down from a high of 74% earlier this year, Mission Local reported.
An independent University of Southern California poll surveyed 454 likely San Francisco voters and found a 63% approval rating for Lurie, while a separate poll by David Binder Research showed a 67% approval rating.
Previous polls conducted in 2025 and early 2026 consistently showed Lurie’s approval rating above 70%, including a November 2025 poll by David Binder Research at 71% and a July 2025 San Francisco Chronicle poll at 73%.
Christian Grose, lead pollster for the USC poll and a political science professor, noted the decline but said that maintaining above 60% approval is strong in the current political climate where most officials struggle to reach 50%.
Lurie’s spokesperson Max Szabo attributed the continued support to visible progress in the city, including cleaner streets, increased police presence, and revitalization of downtown San Francisco, according to Mission Local.
