Scientists are exploring a new method to fight antibiotic-resistant infections by using viruses that target and kill harmful bacteria, ScienceDaily Health reported.

An international team has published the first coordinated guidelines for personalized phage therapy, aiming to safely introduce this experimental treatment into clinical settings.

Early results from studies are promising, showing patient improvement in 77% of cases and elimination of targeted bacteria in 61%, according to the report.

These guidelines provide a roadmap for clinicians to implement phage therapy, potentially offering a new weapon against deadly superbugs.
