Two dead in wrong-way crash on I-95 in Howard County
A wrong-way driver caused a fatal head-on collision on I-95 in Howard County, shutting down northbound lanes for hours.
Two people died early Saturday morning in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 95 in Howard County, Maryland, according to Maryland State Police and reports from WTOP and FOX 5 DC.
The crash occurred near mile marker 44 in Elkridge when a 37-year-old man was driving southbound in the northbound lanes and collided head-on with a northbound vehicle. Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities believe alcohol and excessive speed may have contributed to the crash. The incident forced the closure of all northbound lanes of I-95 at the 44-mile marker and the left lane of southbound I-95, causing significant traffic delays during the morning rush hour.
