Man sentenced to 40 years for robbery and murder in Gaithersburg
A 20-year-old was sentenced for a 2025 execution-style murder during a robbery in Montgomery County.
A 20-year-old man was sentenced to 40 years in prison for his role in a robbery and execution-style murder that occurred in Gaithersburg, according to the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office, as reported by FOX 5 DC.
The sentencing relates to the April 2025 killing of a 20-year-old victim found shot in the head while sitting in his car on Brookridge Court. Investigators said the victim's car had struck a curb and the engine was still running when police arrived.
Court documents revealed that the convicted man posed as a female friend on social media to lure the victim to the location under the pretense of buying marijuana. The man and a co-defendant then robbed and shot the victim. The co-defendant pleaded guilty and received a 45-year sentence.
The convicted man was found guilty of first-degree murder, armed robbery, and a firearm offense, and was also ordered to serve five years of supervised release after his prison term. The co-defendant received a similar supervised release period.
Montgomery County State’s Attorney John McCarthy emphasized that the sentences reflect a firm stance against senseless, deadly gun violence in the community.
