3.6 million Little Giant ladders recalled for fall hazard nationwide
Ladders sold at Lowe’s, Costco and Amazon recalled due to fall hazard from faulty Rapid Locks, with reports of injuries including head trauma and fractures.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a recall of about 3.6 million Little Giant ladders with Rapid Locks due to a risk of sudden retraction that can cause falls, FOX 5 DC reported.
The recall affects several models including Adjustable Fortress 2.0, Conquest 2.0, Dark Horse 2.0, Epic, and others, all featuring black or orange Rapid Locks on each leg. These ladders were sold at Lowe's, Costco, and online retailers including Amazon, Lowes.com, and Costco.com from December 2015 through October 2026.
According to the U.S. CPSC, the locks can retract if not fully engaged, creating a serious fall hazard. The company has received 25 reports of ladders retracting, with 19 injuries including three head injuries such as traumatic brain injuries, skull fractures, concussions, vision and hearing loss, and cognitive impairment.
Consumers are advised to stop using the recalled ladders immediately and check the model and lock color to determine if their ladder is part of the recall.
The recall also includes reports of other injuries like bone fractures, lacerations, and bruising, and 39 reports of the Rapid Locks malfunctioning, underscoring the importance of the recall.
