The California Highway Patrol (CHP) San Jose area office reported a major rescue after a vehicle plunged down a 100-foot dirt embankment on Tuesday afternoon. The incident occurred near Marsh and Arroyo Hondo roads around 1:15 p.m., according to KRON4.

First responders from CHP San Jose and several neighboring fire crews arrived at the scene and found two occupants trapped inside the wrecked vehicle deep down the hillside. They worked quickly under challenging conditions to safely extract the individuals.

The current condition of the two occupants has not been disclosed. Officials have not yet determined the cause of the crash.

CHP San Jose used the rescue as a reminder for drivers to reduce speed and allow extra braking distance, especially when traveling in rainy or muddy conditions.
